An Eye for an Eye

I needed an eye. Since no one was here at the time,  I had to photograph my own. I was surprised to find upon transfferimg from the camera that there was a heart in my iris. I wonder if  it will come out in the work that I do with this image. What does this mean? Is it just an anomally or does it have meaning?

Abstract Laughter

Abstract (Sold)

Do you ever laugh so much there are tears rolling down your cheeks? I have, and do.  Sometimes so much so I have resembled Alice Cooper in his heyday.  You think I would have learned to wear waterproof mascara by now. But no.  Actually, I kind of like it that way.  What a compliment to those that cause that streaky look upon your face. Laughing exhausts you but at the same time rejuvenates you. I have so many people in my life that make me laugh. I make me laugh!  I thought I would stop and check out a local clothing store and perhaps purchase something for myself. Into the dressing room I go, clothes hanging from my arm. Off come MY clothes and I am about to throw one of the dresses I have over my head and lo and behold, a rustling of the curtain. (yes, this change room had fancy curtains!) The dress still covering my head and just about to slip down to my neck, I hear a voice "Oh, you're not my girlfriend.".  OK, so I am thinking "Do I lower this garment, so my face is uncovered? Or, should I remain very still, and say nothing?"  All I could do was burst into peals of laughter. I just couldn't stop. So now I would have those big mascara lines down my face. The guy at least had a good sense of humour and when I came out he did say, " I didn't see much of the dress but I bet it will look nice on you."  I bought the dress!

More sketches

All works must come from either something that captures your eye, an idea or thought. These are a few that I have painted and sold, or just haven't painted yet. Sketches aren't perfect and when sitting and doing them, it is just about the moment. I love this as there is no pressure. It is just about experiencing whatever you are feeling at that time.

A sketch

A quick sketch for a painting " Fancy Chair and a Big Tin Bucket"
One of my favourite things to do is sit, take a big thick black marker and sketch. I ended up doing a painting of this.

Pen and Ink

Pen and Ink 7 1/2 x 12

Todi (Sold)
So.. I posted this the other day and then when trying to adjust some blog stuff, accidentally deleted the post. Leave it to me! So, I have put it on again.  I am in the studio and decided to take a little break from a painting I am working on (OK, two paintings I am trying to finish).
I was on the phone with my sister last night. She is such a great sis. I always thought that she was the "grounded" one. She said that I was. Again with the how we see ourselves. It's funny because that same day, another friend of mine said that I was grounded. NO WAY! I am so not. I want to be, but really in the big scheme of things, who is?  I think perhaps being grounded is overrated. I think it is more interesting if you aren't. I would rather be remembered as quirky and off the wall.

The Gate

The Gate, Italy

I have never commented on a yahoo video in my life. However, today I felt so inclined. Oh, I know, I will be chastised for saying this but little did I realize it was falling on the ears of the "rednecks" of the world.  Here is this so called "father" taking a gun and shooting his teenage daughters laptop for complaining on Facebook about her chore schedule and life at home in general.  In the video, he sits, a cigarette dangling in his hand, ranting, using abusive language (which I must add, Yahoo warns you about before viewing)  and to make a long story short, decides to punish his daughter by shooting her laptop and also adding an extra bullet for her Mum at the mother's request. I really have the feeling, that I don't belong on this planet. There were three thumbs up for the comment made to me that my reply to this was stupid.
So basically, the gist of my comment was that this was not how to teach your children. A violent response begets a violent response. It's not rocket science.  Anyone who is cussing enough to make seasoned criminals sweat, should rethink his parenting skills.  Thus "The Gate" . I think perhaps, some of those folks should be behind it!
